From version 5.2.2 we had introduced a free float filter options at dashboard designer level. This option allowed to add filters into the dashboard and place it anywhere in the dashboard canvas (rather than having as a popup). Click here to read about that functionality.
However, the filter added via this method always had a white background. Now in case if you are creating a dashboard with some other background color (like dark theme etc) then this filter will look odd. Hence, in order to handle those situations this customization has been added from version 6.0 of open source BI product Helical Insight onwards.
To use this, create a report with required filter. You can read our other blogs/videos to learn on how to create a report and how to use filter. Once a filter is created, then by clicking on the 3 dots next to Visualization open the Properties option.

Within Properties, next to Axis click on 3 dots and it will show the list of all the properties. Then click on Filter property option from the list.

The Filter property has got the below list of options.

- Header Background Color: This property will change the background color of the filter header.
- Header Text Color: This property will change the text color of the filter header.
- Header Font Size: This property will change the font size of the filter header.
- Filter Background Color: This property will change the background color of the filter.
- List Text Color: This property will change the text color of the filter list items.
- List Font Size: This property will change the font size of the filter list items.

Now when this report is dragged into the dashboard canvas and the filter is added via this report, if the filter is a free float filter the filter will get added with the look and feel which has been described here.
