In this blog we will learn how to extract the month name from any date / date time column in Helical Insight.

1. Below you can see we are having a date in the format “YYYY:MM:DD HH:MM:SS”.In case if we want to extract month and do month wise travel analysis, click on travel date in the selection box and then More.



2. Go to “Advanced”Tab, in the functions box and in this you will see a function called “Month Name”. Double click on that function and then drag the Travel Date column in the selected Month name function box at the bottom.



3. Then click on Save button. Then click on “Generate” report. You will see the desired output as below.




Note: These functions are specific to the database and may / may not appear based on the kind of database that you are connecting to. Please refer to below blog to add more database functions for your specific use case.
